Position Summary: Set up Technician is responsible for installing and removing molds and support equipment such as welders, milling machines, pad printers, robots, etc. at molding presses. Responsibilities include starting up molding machines and auxiliary equipment to produce parts that meet the quality standards according to the manufacturing plan in a safe manner.

Duties:

  • Install molds and support equipment in a safe and secure manner.
  • Start molding machines and support equipment to produce production parts that meet the quality standards described in the manufacturing plan and to print specifications.
  • Before starting the machine clean all areas of the machine including bed, floor, and table of items from the previous run. Support equipment, documentation, and packaging from the previous run should also be put away before starting the machine.
  • Inspect mold for damage and lubrication of guide pins and bushings before starting.
  • Check machine settings against the approved setup sheet attached to the manufacturing plan.
  • Provide instruction to the operator any additional information not covered in the blue folder and observe correct sequence of manufacture by operator.
  • Answer setup trouble calls and adjust machines as required to produce parts in accordance with the blue folder and manufacturing plan in a safe manner.
  • Act as a relief operator for breaks or as needed.
  • Complete paperwork to identify first off part, last off part, initial mfg. plan, etc. before releasing machine to operator.
  • Identify any unsafe condition(s) of machine and/or support equipment and notify maintenance or your supervisor immediately. Stop unsafe equipment from operation and lock out from power source.

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic molding machine and support equipment operation and set up.
  • Mathematics – Knowledge of basic math.

Plastic materials processing, handling, and drying requirements:

  • Able to set, start, & process plastic injection molding machines.
  • Minimum 3 years working as Injection Molding Technician.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. as regular part of job.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Good communication skills & team player working style.

Salary: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour/DOE

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
