A Mold Maker at H&H Molds is responsible for supporting new tool builds, existing tool repairs & enhancements. This position is critical for H&H’s ability to differentiate itself from other injection molders, by providing in-house capabilities to support high production up-time, as well. The Mold Maker is a key member of a small team that is dedicated to high-quality tool builds & supporting H&H’s molding operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manufactures, alters, repairs, and maintains molds and dies for injection molding machines
  • Works to very close tolerances (+/- 0.002)
  • Operates various standard machine tools and mold-making machinery (i.e. mills, lathes, etc.) in the production of molds
  • Performing welding operations
  • Must be capable of making new tools from raw materials
    • Ability to break down a high-level task into processing steps and perform the job
  • Working in a small team environment with limited oversight
  • Assembles and disassembles molds for production, repair, and maintenance purposes.
  • Performs set-ups and adjustments on all mold-making machinery
  • Performs various types of bench work including stoning, polishing, and assembly
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in the work area and follows all safety policies, procedures, and rules
  • Perform timely, detailed inspections of parts through the use of measurement tools and visual inspection

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of mold-making experience
  • Ability to use Solidworks, MasterCam and SurfCam
  • Demonstrates ability to adhere to the company’s Accident Prevention Program
  • Must be a journeyman mold maker or have extensive work experience in the construction of new injection mold tooling with the skill to do original work and actual mold construction or repair without direct supervision
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and prints
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of principles of operation of mold-making tools, machining methods, and typical mold tooling material
  • Good analytical, conceptual, numerical, and reasoning abilities
  • Manage time efficiently and in accordance with production requirements and problems
